The Varne Watersports & Social Club House was built by its members and was opened by the Cinque Ports Mayor of New Romney in 1975 and has the backing of the local council due to its excellent safety record.

A fully furnished clubhouse with licensed bar stands on the shoreline giving panoramic sea views over the channel to France and the opportunity to watch the water sports activity from the vantage of the balcony.
Bar opening hours are Fridays 1630 - 2300hrs, Saturdays and Sundays 1200 - 1600hrs. The bar is open to members when there is a function on.

Watersports Membership also includes Social Club Membership The Club has hosted many National, International and Local competitions in all of its major sports.
The Varne has three launch vehicles. Two are fitted with lifting arms to help launch and recover the most awkward of craft and the third is better suited to recovering from below the half tide line (this allows longer at sea). Generally launching is 3 hours before high water and recovery 3 and a half hours after high water, this operation is usually done on a "dry" basis.
Club members are always at hand for friendly advice and local knowledge
