Stand Up Paddle Boarding = SUP
Possibly the fastest growing water sport in the world? You are never too young to start, or too late to start even in October when this photo was taken!
The bay off the Varne Clubhouse can offer some great SUPing, at times the sea can be mirror flat but we can also have nice swells coming in for some SUP surfing. It is a very easy sport to master in a short time and is great way to improve your fitness and core strength.
We have 8 club SUP boards for members and non members to try and get to grips with this fantastic sport. Four of the club SUP boards are the hard shell construction type in addition we have four of the Red Paddle inflatable SUPs who are the market leader in inflatable SUP technology.
The inflatables are great, very user friendly and when finished with, they can be rolled up into a rucksack which can be wheeled or put on your back, so there is no need for lifting heavy boards onto car roof racks.
When the conditions are right we sometimes go out as groups along the bay towards Dungeness or up the coast towards Dymchurch.
With no modern day distractions and only the seals for company it can be a fantastic experience.
For the last two years we have taken the club SUPs to Bewl Reservoir to take part in the Guinness World Record attempt, for the most people in the world SUPing around a course at the same time.
